Here our busy crawlers are offered a challenging yet safe environment to explore which helps with their development. We set up their environment to encourage them to strive for the next stage.
We display toys and learning materials in an enticing way around the classroom to encourage them to explore. We provide them with safe structures for them to pull up on and cruise around. We carefully guide their first steps.
We introduce them to new foods, as per their parent's instructions. In this class they learn the fine motor control necessary to eat delicious finger foods. We artfully guide them through the perils of stranger and separation anxiety.
The teachers help increase their communication skills by teaching them sign language. At our school the crawlers are separated from the other babies for the majority of their day so they can explore and be curious without being stepped on or constantly redirected away from newborns.
